UMD’s sock puppet world record try falls short, still gets very Muppet
More than 300 people packed Stamp Student Union for a Henson Week record attempt in College Park.
More than 300 UMD students, staff and family members gathered Friday at the Stamp Student Union in College Park for a Guinness World Record attempt: most sock puppets worn in one venue, 7News/WJLA reports. The Sock Puppet Party capped Jim and Jane Henson Week, honoring the UMD alumni who created Kermit the Frog and the Muppets. Organizers aimed at the standing record of 629, set in 2019 by The Blue Coat School Birmingham in the UK, but UMD said the crowd fell short while still making and playing together.
