Variety reports Indian devotional film “Hanuman Ansh” has crossed $3.5 million outside India after Hombale Films handled its international distribution. Written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi and adapted from his book “Divine Detour: That Changed My Life,” the film follows Lakshman Das, who leaves home after his mother dies and later becomes Neem Karoli Baba, known to devotees as Maharaj-ji. Hombale, the Bengaluru banner behind “K.G.F” and “Kantara,” partnered with Phars in the GCC and Prathyangara in North America for the Sept. 11 international opening. Producer Chaluve Gowda told Variety the strategy was to take ownership of global territories, work with major local partners, and use learnings from “Mahavatar Narsimha.” North America leads the overseas total with $1.8 million from the U.S. and Canada. In India, the film opened Aug. 7 on about 250 screens, grew past 2,000, and has grossed INR340.7 crore in seven weeks.

Why it matters: North America is not a side market in this rollout; it is the top overseas region listed by Hombale’s figures. For diaspora moviegoers, this is another sign that faith-driven Indian stories are being built with global theatrical strategy from day one.
